Q4: What kinds of problems should one pay attention to regarding the testing of the strength of bursting?

a. Not just foremost but it is prominently crucial to clamp the sample in a way that it covers the diaphragm completely. one must make sure that the clamped specimen is free from any wrinkle or uncertainty to achieve accuracy. 

b. The acceleration rate is adjusted based on the break time. For example, for wool it is  (15 ± 10) seconds and for other fabrics (30 ± 10) s. Make observations during testing. 

c. When the sample is torn, the level of strength of the specimen is the sum of the strength of the sample and film, minus the diaphragm strength. there are a total of three methods in order to ascertain the strength of diaphragm: 

  • Simply keep track of the maximum break point of every sample during the course of testing and make out an average from it. you can now increase the pressure over the diaphragm without the specimen and assess the expansion of the diaphragm.  

  • Record the breaking time of each sample and find the average value. Now you can simply increase the pressure without the sample placed over the diaphragm and measure Weather the pressure time is equal to the average bursting time or not. 

  • After the sample is torn, please do not reduce the pressure to remove the sample. At that moment, the pressure value is the diaphragm pressure. In this case, it is recommended to perform testing with the fastened clamps to assess the highest expansion level of the diaphragm which should align with the sample. 

d. in order to perform calibration, one can use standard films as well as Aluminium foils. 

e. Consider switching the diaphragm with another neoprene rubber in case of slight deformation. The standard deformation is when the diaphragm expands to a certain height such that there is a significant difference between the Diaphragm shape and normal spherical crown.

f. Pay attention to whether the oil is sufficient in the oil tank. Quickly fill it up for expediting the process. Otherwise pressure cannot reach its full capacity.
