What Safety Precautions Should Be Taken While Operating a Salt Spray Chamber?

The corrosion resistance of metals has always been a paramount concern for the metal industry, and this is where the need for salt spray testing arises. By conducting salt spray tests on metal or its related products, manufacturers can easily ensure the durability of the materials. To make it easy for the metal manufacturers to conduct accurate salt spray tests, on the materials we at Presto have designed a highly advanced lab testing instrument known as Salt Spray Chamber - Korrox IV Magnus Series Computerized.

This highly advanced salt spray test chamber will help the manufacturers in conducting accurate salt spray tests by offering a unique interactive environment that can synthesize salt spray with air drying, and wetting/condensation for a comprehensive analysis of corrosion resistance.  While conducting salt spray tests using this salt spray test machine, manufacturers should take some essential precautions and ensure all operational safety notices and prerequisites have adhered to the standards.

In this blog, we will discuss a brief about the Presto salt spray chamber- Korrox IV Magnus Series Computerized along with its highly advanced features. We will also discuss a brief about the safety precautions that should be taken while operating this quality testing equipment.

Test your product's durability against corrosion with a salt spray chamber

Salt spray testing is a critical step in evaluating the resistance of materials and coatings to corrosion. This process is conducted using a specialized salt spray test chamber, which follows a standardized salt spray test procedure.

By subjecting your products to a controlled environment of salt mist, you can assess their ability to withstand the corrosive effects of salt and humidity. The salt spray test results interpretation provides valuable insights into the material's performance and its expected longevity in real-world conditions.

Presto Korrox IV Magnus series computerized is one of the widely used lab testing equipment designed to test the durability of the materials against salt spray and ensure that accurate products will be delivered to the customers. This high-quality lab testing instrument comes with in-built temperature settings and provides easy data management for users.

Precautions that needed to be taken while operating this quality testing equipment

Operating a salt spray chamber for quality testing is essential to ensure accurate and reliable results. Here are some precautions that should be taken when operating this equipment:

  • Proper Ventilation: Ensure that the testing area is adequately ventilated to prevent the buildup of corrosive fumes and to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Quality Salt Solution: Prepare the salt solution with precision, following the recommended concentration and quality standards. You can easily dissolve 5±1% parts by weight of sodium chloride in 95% parts of distilled water or water containing not more than 200ppm of total solids.
  • Ensure that salt is free from contaminants: The salt used can be sodium chloride substantially free of nickel and copper containing on a dry basis not more than 0.1% of sodium iodide and not more than 0.3% of total impurities. The pH of the solution needs to be in the range of 6.5 to 7.2.
  • Monitor Conditions: Continuously monitor the test chamber's temperature, humidity, and salt concentration to ensure they remain within specified ranges.
  • Secure the canopy accurately: Ensure that the salt solution from one sample does not drip on another sample. Push the "Door close" button to close the canopy.
These are some precautions that you must take while operating this high-quality lab testing instrument.
