Damage to the corrugated boxes at the time of transportation is a common problem faced by the packaging industries. To solve this problem, Presto offers the high quality of compression load testing machine to determine the strength of a box based on size, dimension, storage techniques, and material properties. For the better safety of products inside the carton or corrugated box, quality and compressive strength are essential factors. Most of the industries prefer only corrugated boxes for packaging due to its reliable and safety features. The plastic packaging is less preferred as compared to corrugated boxes. Presto manufactures the instrument to fulfill the needs of the paper and packaging industries following all the international mechanical standards.

Compression load testing machine measures the compression strength, shape and stacking capability of cartons, beehive crates, paper tanks, paper cases, etc. During transportation of foods or other products, corrugated boxes or cartons are placed one above other causing compression to the boxes. Due to compression, the box could deform and could harm or contaminate the product stored. Therefore, it is necessary to check the compression strength of a box before manufacturing.

In the testing procedure, a sample of the corrugated box is placed between two parallel plates, and maximum pressure is applied until the sample deformed completely. A standard time period must be set in the digital panel provided so that maximum compression strength to compress the test specimen can be determined. The testing procedure is based on the load and bend analysis procedure for easy comparison of quality of cartons, fiber boards, and closures with the standard specimen.

Checking the quality and compressive strength of the boxes with prior testing procedures prevent industries from a significant loss. The low quality of boxes could cause harm to the products that are stored in the boxes, and the end user can demand to return or replace the product. Ultimately the cost of repair or replacement is on the company. A prior quality check saves time and maintains a good reputation in the business.

The Tensile testing Machine is highly recommended for evaluating the tensile strength of products and materials. The equipment is based on the Constant Rate of Traverse (CRT) principle. It is equipped with an upper jaw and a lower jaw. Universal Tensile Testing Machine is a reliable piece of equipment which is widely used for checking tensile strength of a product/sample. One of the most common mechanical testing techniques used to determine tensile strength, this is a method wherein controlled tension is applied to a sample until it fully fails.

Thus, the material properties of the sample can be easily determined by this test. It involves measuring the force required to elongate a sample under test to breaking point. Using this test, manufacturers and quality managers are able to determine the core strength of their products.

Box Compression Tester

Box Compression Tester Digital

Box Compression Tester is a consistent tool to indicate the Compression strength of cardboard boxes so that it does not get deformed or crushed when stacked one above the other during storage or transit. Cardboard boxes are commonly stacked one on top of the other, during warehousing and storage. So, to ensure that they do not collapse during this, it is necessary to measure their box compression strength. It is based on the principle of measuring the maximum load that the material can withstand without breaking. This process is performed by applying a gradually increasing compression force to a sample until it fails using Box Compression Tester.

Using the equipment, a force-deformation curve can be obtained. This curve helps us evaluate the resistance of a package. It is a reliable equipment that provides accurate information regarding the compressive strength and durability of the package. It enables manufacturers to choose a more resistant packaging and to ensure the contents of the package don’t get damaged during stacking or transit.

Thus, corrugated boxes/cartons/paper packaging can be tested using Box Compression tester. It is widely used to determine compressive resistance, deformation and stacking capability of cartons and corrugated boxes.
