Is your material failing you beyond the breaking point?

In manufacturing fields such as automotive, metals, construction, electronics and aerospace etc. the tensile strength of the material is a crucial factor in defining the success of the product. Tensile strength is the strength of the material which allows it to withstand any force applied or faced by it during its application and production period without breaking.

To solve this problem and provide your product the best equipment - we bring to you The Universal Testing Machine. Being both a tensile tester that is computerized cum digitized it is outlined to accurately and efficiently measure the tensile strength of a range of materials and products.

Working of the Universal Testing Machine

Basic Principle:

The principle of constant rate of traverse is utilized in accurately calculating the tensile strength of a product under the UTM. In order to ensure the product’s reliability and efficiency, real - world situations are replicated to challenge it’s tensile strength for testing. Thus, under this process the specimen is held by 2 alternating jaws that apply a certain force on the specimen by their movement. By creating a certain level of tension, the specimen is subjected to force until it reaches it’s breaking point.
This process is broken down into the following effective steps:
1. Preparing the Sample for testing-
In order to receive accurate results, the specimen must fit the UTM Machine correctly. Since different materials have different shapes they must be uniformed to be compatible with the machine’s working. Thus, depending on the material you can either transform it into a dumbbell shaped specimen or bring it down to appropriate proportions by cutting them into strips. This is how we prepare the sample for testing making it the 1st and most crucial step of all.

2. Positioning the Sample in the UTM-
The Universal Testing Machine has grids for the specimen to be clamped in position and ensure that post clamping the grids are at least 100 mm apart from each other. This is done to avoid any form of slippage to allow a seamless test where tension is applied uniformly across the specimen.
3. Preparing the machine-
In order to prepare the machine for the testing process, it needs to be activated. For this- plug the Tensile Tester into a 5 amp, 220 volts AC outlet to produce power to the machine. After the machine is activated, secure the specimen in between the grids. To avoid any slippage or movement of the specimen both the upper and lower jaws must be tightened ensuring direct and uniform force is applied on the specimen without any obstruction.
4. Conducting the Test-
The fourth and final step involves starting the machine and observing the force applied. To ensure accurate measurement of the tensile strength, monitor the test closely and observe as the lower jaw pushed upwards- it creates a tension on the specimen. This force will continue to rise until it reaches its breaking point.
Thus, by conducting this tensile test Universal Testing Machine we get insightful data into the product’s tensile strength helping the producers achieve their ideal product for manufacturing.

Application and Features

The UTM tensile tester is the ideal tool to analyse applications across various industries as it is engineered to withstand high forces of tensile to produce accurate results with it’s efficient testing. Making it an indispensable tool in QC labs and production lines owing to it’s quality analysis. By accommodating a wide range of materials and testing requirements it ensures reliable and precise results.
Some key features include-

  1. High Testing Range-
From materials to polymers a wide range of materials are tested due to the UTM’s high testing range. This broad product ensures it’s capability to meet the standards and requirements of various industries, making it both efficient and versatile.

  2. Vice-Type clamping grips-

To ensure a firm and secure hold on the specimen The Universal testing Machine has vice type clamping grips are involved in the testing machine. Ensuring accurate results and any form of slippage that could cause hindrance in both the production and manufacturing process.

  1. Peak Load Indicator-
With the help of it’s advanced technology, the tensile tester produces accurate digital readouts of test results. Aiding in accurate tracking, analysis and material strength.

  2.  Test control wizard-
Parameters such as tension, compression and various measurement units can be set using this feature making it both flexible and precise while conducting the test. It also becomes user friendly by viewing online test results of graphs and raw data for better data interpretation.
