Steps to calibrate your hot air oven:

1. Preparation:

  • Go through the Manual: Apply the recommended calibrating instructions to your own model. 

  • Put together equipment: A reference thermometer, a data logger, and calibrated temperature sensors (thermocouples or RTDs) should be ready.

2. Mapping Temperature:

  • Temperature Uniformity: To get through the normal operation conditions, identify the temperature variations in different areas of it, as well as different shelves. 

3. Calibration (externally) :

  • Preparation: The oven should be empty and clean.

  • Setup: In the different temperature zones identified during mapping, place the thermocouples. 

  • Heat-up: Set up the oven temperature at say, 100 degrees celsius to onset stability.

  • Comparison: After the experiment, compare the oven’s readings with those of the calibrated sensors. This should be done at regular periods to prevent discrepancy.
