Do you want to make your printed product labels to be impeccably intact? Do you want to be assured about the printed quality of your products? If yes, then this can be possible with the help of quality testing. Presto is Asia’s no.1 manufacturer of laboratory testing equipment and has designed high-quality lab testing equipment known as ink abrasion tester. This is one of the high-quality lab testing equipment that can be used to test the abrasion resistance of the materials when exposed to extreme conditions. This quality testing equipment is perfect for the packaging and printing industry that used to deal with printed materials on a daily basis.

This is one of the high-quality lab testing equipment that is widely used in the printing and packaging industry to ensure the rub resistance of materials and ensure uniform load distribution throughout the test area. In this blog, we will discuss brief information about the Presto ink abrasion tester and the easy procedure to conduct ink abrasion tests on the labels. So, let us get started!

What is an ink abrasion test and why it should be conducted on labels?

An ink abrasion test is a test that is conducted in order to determine the resistance of a material to wear when exposed to rubbing. This type of test is often used to evaluate the durability of labels and other printed materials.

The ink abrasion test is considered to be one of the important quality tests that will provide valuable information about the durability of labels or other printed materials. This information will be useful in ensuring that the products will be able to withstand the rigours of use and still maintain their quality.

In some cases, the results of the ink abrasion resistance test will be used to troubleshoot the problems with labels and other printed materials that have been reported by the customers.

Labels are widely used packaging materials that will convey essential information to consumers while leaving a lasting impression. By subjecting labels to rigorous ink abrasion tests, manufacturers can evaluate the susceptibility of printed ink layers to wear and tear over time. This process simulates real-life scenarios where labels may encounter various forms of friction during transportation or handling processes.

Thus, you can easily analyze the abrasion resistance of labels in a standardized way with the help of a Presto ink abrasion tester.

This high-quality testing equipment has been designed to test the ink abrasion properties of the materials and ensure that quality products will be delivered to the customers.

Now, let us discuss a brief about the ink abrasion resistance tester.

All about ink abrasion resistance tester

The ink Abrasion Resistance Tester is designed specifically for measuring the resistance against rubbing and scuffing. This instrument can be efficiently utilized for identifying the properties of the printed material against different physical conditions.

These conditions may lead to deterioration of the printed material. To make inks and printing technology withstand different conditions, an abrasion resistance tester can be used. It has noiseless application and ensures uniform load distribution throughout the test area.

Testing the ink abrasion of materials will also matter for durable packaging materials. Testing the ink abrasion of packaging materials like labels, can help you to prolong the life of packaging and ensure that quality materials will be delivered to the customers.

To ensure that printed materials will easily withstand the wear and tear of ink while shipping the products to the customers, it is important to test the ink abrasion resistance of printed materials accurately.

You can read more on the preparation of ink abrasion test samples and ensure that quality materials will be delivered to the customers. You can also prepare the sample accurately and ensure that quality materials will be delivered to the customers.

Now, let us discuss briefly the features and technical specifications of the Presto ink abrasion resistance tester.

Features of Presto ink abrasion resistance tester

Abrasion is a significant factor that has a negative impact on the material's surface quality. By giving real-time circumstances, the abrasion test on the materials helps to compare the quality of the coated material and to anticipate the actual life of the product. Abrasion testing is carried out on coated or plated materials in order to determine their abrasion resistance strength.

Below we have listed the features of the Presto ink abrasion resistance tester.

  • The body is made up of mild steel
  • It has a powder-coated Havel Grey and Blue combination, bright chrome zinc plating for corrosion resistance
  • Test load – 2 Nos
  • Arm rotation – Through gear motor
  • Dimensions – 300 X 470 X 428 mm

Technical specifications of Presto ink abrasion resistance tester

  • Rub Pressure – 2 lbs and 4 lbs
  • Rub Speed – 43 cycle/minute - ±2 cycle/minute
  • Rub mode – Arc reciprocating movement
  • Counter – 9999 Digits
  • Sensor Type – PNP
  • Power Supply – 220V AC, 50Hz, Single phase
With these high-end features and technical specifications, manufacturers can easily conduct quality ink abrasion tests on the materials and deliver quality products to the customers.

How does an ink abrasion resistance tester work?

This high-quality lab testing instrument will accurately evaluate the print quality of the material by rubbing two printed materials against each other. To conduct the ink abrasion-resistant test on the materials, one can easily prepare the test specimen. Once the sample is prepared then you can follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Take both the samples that you have prepared using templates.
  • Now take out the pin of the upper clamp to separate the upper clamp from the lower one in order to create a specific amount of gap between both clamps.
  • Now paste the small-size sample on the upper clamp and the bigger-size sample on the lower plate. Press both samples firmly using your hand to avoid wrinkles from the samples.
  • Turn the machine ON and after placing samples firmly, place the clamping pin of the upper plate back in its position and tighten it firmly to rest the upper plate on the lower plate.
  • Set the number of cycles from the Preset Cycle Timer i.e. between 0 – 9999 counts (As per test requirement typically 100 cycles).
  • Push the start button to Start the test. Users can also click on the reset button during the test to reset the test procedure and then again start button
In this way, you can easily test the ink abrasion resistance properties of the materials and ensure that quality material will be delivered.
