The term scuff stands for the rubbing of two materials against each other. The scuff resistance tester is used to evaluate the rubbing resistance of labels and printed paper and packaging materials i.e. the damage which takes place through scuffing or rubbing. Presto’s Rub & Scuff Resistance Tester rubs two materials against each other on the same plane with the speed of 60 rpm under a constant rubbing pressure. The rub test equipment used in paper and packaging industries to measure the color transfer from printed or coated surface at the time of rubbing. The sample is attached to the base of the tester with the printed side of the label in an upward direction. The sample is attached with the weight of 2psi and placed in the position over the sample so that the printed sides are placed face to face. The testing device is now set for the number of strokes i.e. 100 cycles, and the machine is started as per the customer satisfaction. After the required number of strokes, the sample is examined for any sort of signs of ink transfer or quality degradation.
